JOE BARBARA PHOTOS AND INFO
Stepping into his first major daytime role, Joe Barbara joined the cast of
Another World in February 1995 as Bay City Police Captain Joe Carlino. As
Bay City’s police chief, Joe devotes his life to fighting crime and, until
recently, he also had to fight to keep his marriage to Paulina Cory from falling
apart. After a series of misunderstandings, Joe and Paulina have succeeded
in resolving their differences and their marriage is stronger than ever.
Barbara has extensive stage credits, including the role of Danny Zuko in the
hit Broadway revival of Grease. While working on Another World, Barbara did
what few other daytime actors have done: he successfully carried a heavy
daytime schedule while simultaneously starring in eight shows a week on
Broadway. His other stage work includes two years as Dominick Fabrizi in
the popular off-Broadway show Tony and Tina’s Wedding. His television
credits also include a featured role on The Cosby Mysteries and co-hosting
the 25th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on NBC.
Barbara earned a B.S. in television and film production at Syracuse
University. His first job out of college was as a production assistant at
Entertainment Tonight in New York. Barbara is a native of New Smyrna
Beach, Fla. He enjoys music, especially Elvis, Frank Sinatra and assorted
“oldies.” He also plays guitar and writes country songs. Barbara’s birthday is
December 5.
